“FavTray can't be opened”? Here's the fix.
FavTray is a small indie app, so macOS shows a verification warning the first time you open it — it's not malware, just Apple's Gatekeeper being cautious about apps outside the App Store. Opening it takes about 10 seconds, and you only do it once.

“FavTray Not Opened — Apple could not verify ‘FavTray’ is free of malware that may harm your Mac.” That's expected. Follow either method below to open it safely.

Open via System Settings
macOS Ventura, Sonoma, Sequoia (13, 14, 15+)- Double-click FavTray in your Applications folder. macOS shows “FavTray Not Opened” / “Apple could not verify…” — click Done (or Cancel).
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Scroll down to the Security section. You'll see: “FavTray was blocked to protect your Mac.”
- Click Open Anyway, then confirm with Open (enter your password / Touch ID if asked).
- FavTray launches and appears in your menu bar. You won't be asked again.

Alternative
Right-click → Open
Quickest on macOS Sonoma (14) and earlier- Open your Applications folder and find FavTray.
- Right-click (or Control-click) the app → choose Open.
- In the dialog, click Open again.
- Done — FavTray opens and stays trusted from now on.

Power users
Terminal one-liner
Removes the quarantine flag directly- Open Terminal (Applications → Utilities).
- Paste this and press Return:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/FavTray.app- Now double-click FavTray normally — it opens without warnings.
