What's new in FavTray

Every release, what changed, and why. FavTray updates itself — you'll see new versions land automatically.

v1.10.0
July 31, 2026

AI Writer gets a memory. Every result you generate is kept for 7 days so you can go back and copy something you clicked away from, re-running the same text now gives you a genuinely different take, and the panel finally stays put while it works.

  • New Recent: the last 7 days of AI Writer results, with the text that produced them. Open it from the AI Writer panel or from the menu bar, copy anything back out, delete individual entries or clear the lot. Stored only on your Mac.
  • New Two new tones — Professional and Polite — alongside Detailed, Concise, Formal, Casual and Witty.
  • New Back button on a result: try a different action on the same selection without re-selecting the text.
  • Improved Drag the AI Writer panel anywhere while it's working — it now keeps the spot you put it in instead of jumping back over your text when the result arrives.
  • Improved Clicking outside no longer throws away a result or cancels a generation that's still running. Use Discard or Esc to close it.
  • Fixed Re-running the same action on the same text kept returning word-for-word the same result. Each run now steers away from what it produced before, across sessions and restarts.
  • Fixed The toolbar didn't reappear when you selected the same piece of text again.
  • Fixed Fixed API call issues in AI Writer.
  • Improved AI Writer now requires a paid licence and is no longer part of the free trial.
v1.9.1
July 23, 2026

Agent Sessions puts Claude Code and Codex in your notch — approve or deny permission requests inline, without leaving your editor. Plus a pop-out Board window, List mode as the default popover layout, and a redesigned Settings.

  • New Agent Sessions (Pro): every Claude Code and Codex session in one board inside the Dynamic Island — repo, branch, status, and elapsed time. Approve or deny Claude Code permission requests inline in the island or from a collapsed-island HUD nudge. 100% local — approvals travel over a local unix socket, nothing about your agents leaves your Mac.
  • New Board pop-out: pop the Live Deck out of its menu-bar popover into a resizable window. Each tool becomes a live card with the history behind its number — AI-usage per-model split, a CPU/memory sparkline, GitHub PRs, meetings, and more.
  • Improved Popover List mode is now the default layout: a dense, keyboard-navigable one-row-per-tool view. Toggle back to the tile grid with ⌘\.
  • Improved Settings redesigned: dependent options only reveal once they're relevant, a live preview strip shows what you're about to turn on, and the sidebar groups your tools by state — running, idle, or needs setup.
  • Fixed Claude Code no longer prompts you to log in over and over — FavTray now reads its CLI credentials read-only instead of touching them.
  • Fixed The Preferences… menu item reliably opens Settings instead of occasionally crashing.
  • Fixed An agent waiting on your answer no longer disappears from the Agents board after a few minutes, and the collapsed island's session count no longer counts sessions that have already ended.
  • Fixed The System CPU reading stays live after reopening the popover; reopening a minimized Settings window no longer leaves a stray Dock icon; the popover no longer reopens stuck in a leftover search.
v1.8.1
July 19, 2026

Stability patch: a crash in the AI Usage charts when new AI models appear in your usage data, and a dead button in the Claude Code notch notifications.

  • Fixed AI Usage breakdown chart no longer crashes when a brand-new model (any provider) shows up in your usage history — chart series and colors are now derived from the exact data being plotted, and malformed cost values are sanitized before charting.
  • Fixed Claude Code notch notifications: the Go to Terminal / Answer button actually brings your terminal to the front (macOS activation rules silently blocked it). Warp Preview and Ghostty are now recognized too.
v1.8.0
July 18, 2026

Claude Code lives in your notch — approve or deny its permission prompts, read its questions, and get completion alerts without leaving what you're doing. Plus AI Writer now works out of the box: no API key needed.

  • New Claude Code in the notch (Pro): permission prompts appear as island notifications with one-tap Approve/Deny, questions show with their full options, and finished tasks announce themselves with the final message. Opt in from Settings → Claude Code; unanswered prompts safely fall back to the terminal.
  • New AI Writer — AI included: every action now works with zero setup, no API key, no account. Power users can still point it at any OpenAI-compatible endpoint via environment variables.
  • New AI Writer — Summarize, Explain, and Translate (8 languages) join the toolbar, with a Length control on Summarize/Explain for short, moderate, or in-depth output.
  • New The Dynamic Island is now on by default for new installs — the free glance (media, weather, AI usage) greets you on first launch.
  • Improved Lifetime is now ₹999 (was ₹2499) — every tool, every future feature, one payment.
  • Fixed Island notifications with two actions are fully tappable, show what's being decided on a second line, and no longer delay the next queued notification.
v1.7.0
July 16, 2026

The full Dynamic Island for every paid plan — no longer Lifetime-only. Plus AI Writer grows up: tones, presets, and multiple variants you can flip through before inserting.

  • New The full Dynamic Island now unlocks with ANY paid plan — Personal (₹49/month) included. Clipboard history, file shelf with AirDrop, TimeLens calendar, camera self-check, island notifications, and the Island Oracle. The free glance stays free.
  • New AI Writer tones: generate in Default, Detailed, Concise, Formal, Casual, or Witty — and flip between tone variants on the result before you insert. Already-generated tones switch instantly.
  • New AI Writer presets: Reflection, Video script, Letter, Essay, Speech, Job ad, and Plan starting points for Write anything; Social media and Review modes for Write posts; plus Length and Emoji controls.
  • New Mind map and Table: turn any selection into an indented outline or a compact table, straight from the floating toolbar.
  • Fixed Replace and Insert below reliably land in the host app after generating a post or write-anything draft — the paste no longer races the panel's focus hand-off.
  • Fixed Regenerate produces a genuinely different take instead of repeating the same text — the model now steers away from its previous versions.
v1.6.0
July 10, 2026

The Dynamic Island grows up — and now every install gets the island glance for free. Plus the Live Deck, Day Flow calendar, the Island Oracle, and a camera self-check.

  • New Island glance for everyone: media now-playing with transport controls, live weather for your saved places, and Claude/Codex usage bars under the notch — on the free tier. The island's tools (clipboard history, file shelf, camera check, TimeLens, Ask) unlock with Lifetime.
  • New The Island Oracle (Lifetime): ask AI from the notch. Answers anneal into the glass with one follow-up, then vanish — no chat window, no history, your own API key.
  • New Camera self-check (Lifetime): a mirrored preview in the island before you join a call — every camera, including iPhone Continuity. Nothing is ever recorded.
  • New Island pills: a one-click Join pill a minute before every meeting, watched-port kills, CI verdicts, and the eye-break ember — compact badges under the camera instead of popup panels.
  • New The Live Deck: the popover now opens as information — next meeting, CPU, AI spend, unread PRs — before you click anything.
  • New Day Flow (Meetings): see the shape of your day, today full-width with yesterday/tomorrow steppers, and Apple-Calendar-grade event details with heads-up lead control.
  • Improved Menu Bar Manager: global collapse hotkey, auto-collapse timer, pinned items, and a screen-share trigger that hides your clutter when you present. The chevron always leads the row.
  • Improved Idle CPU near zero: at-rest scans, accessibility probes, and preference sweeps now switch off entirely while nothing is on screen.
  • Improved Weather rotates through your saved places each time the island opens.
  • Fixed Subscription renewal dates ran 5 days late — renewals now carry the correct expiry.
  • Fixed Long Oracle answers no longer bleed outside the island, and conversations no longer dead-end after the first follow-up.
  • Fixed Menu bar enforcement never moves your cursor, and Control Center's per-display mirror windows are ignored on multi-monitor scans.
v1.5.0
July 3, 2026

Four new tools — Screenshot & Annotate, AI Writer, Meetings, and Reminders — plus port groups and instant dark mode.

  • New Screenshot & Annotate (Pro): press ⌘⇧7, drag to select, then move or resize the selection freely. Pen, highlighter, lines, arrows, shapes, and text in three sizes and seven colors — undo/redo, copy to clipboard or save to Desktop. Like Lightshot, built in.
  • New AI Writer (Pro): select text in any app for a floating toolbar — Cut, Copy, Paste, and AI actions to write, polish, format, proofread, make funnier, or add emoji. Streams results with one-click Replace or Insert. Works with OpenAI, DeepSeek, or any compatible API.
  • New Meetings (Pro): calendar-aware takeover 60 seconds before every meeting with a one-click Join button — never miss a call because a notification slid by.
  • New Port Kill groups: save the ports you always fight (front end + API + DB) as a named group, see at a glance which are running, and kill the whole group in one click.
  • Improved Light/dark mode now switches the entire app instantly — every panel, card, and toolbar follows your appearance setting with no stale colors.
  • Improved Click the Pro badge to see your account at a glance: name, email, plan, and renewal date. Buyers can add their name at checkout.
  • Improved Help & feedback: attach screenshots to bug reports — up to three images, or just paste one.
  • Fixed AI Writer toolbar appears only on fresh text selections — no more surprise popups while scrolling or dragging files.
  • Fixed Clickable buttons and links now always show the pointing-hand cursor.
  • New Reminders (Pro): full-screen takeovers with Done, Snooze, or Skip — every reminder gets an answer, with an honest daily log of what was done, skipped, or missed.
  • New Meeting-aware: reminders wait while you're on a call and fire the moment it ends. Office-hours windows keep work reminders out of your evenings.
  • New Start-of-workday schedule: "wear glasses" fires when you actually start working — whenever that is today — not at a guessed clock time.
  • New Plan a whole day in seconds: pick a date and add 5–10 reminders back to back, each with its own time.
  • Improved Reminders show over fullscreen video (medicine interrupts a movie) but never over a meeting.
  • Fixed Dark mode: detail panels no longer show a washed-out translucent haze, and chart legends are readable.
v1.4.1
June 10, 2026

Your activation now sticks — no more re-entering your license after a restart.

  • Fixed License activation is now stored reliably — restarting your Mac no longer asks for the activation code again.
  • Fixed No more keychain password pop-ups when FavTray starts.
  • Improved Accessibility permissions (Keep Alive, Menu Bar Organizer) now persist across app updates instead of needing to be re-granted.
  • New Eye Rest: 8 new break messages — box breathing, blue-light glasses reminder, stand-up-and-work nudges, and more.
  • Improved Eye Rest break messages never repeat back-to-back, and the Random Messages setting now works.
v1.4.0
June 4, 2026

Subscription renewals apply automatically — no more re-entering your key.

  • Improved When your monthly subscription renews, FavTray picks up the new license key on its own — no more copying it from email.
  • New Generate a new license key any time at favtray.com/account — it instantly retires the old key across all your Macs.
  • New Check your license validity on demand from the activation window; the app also re-verifies every 12 hours.
  • Improved Cancelling keeps Pro until the end of the period you already paid for, instead of ending access immediately.
  • New Menu Bar Organizer: per-display reordering on multi-monitor setups and one-click Reset Layout.
v1.3.0
June 3, 2026

Menu Bar Organizer — reorder your menu bar items with one click.

  • New Menu Bar Organizer: move any app's menu bar icon next to the clock, to the far edge, or one step at a time.
  • Improved Every move is verified with a live spinner, so you know exactly when it lands on the bar.
  • Improved macOS-managed items (Control Center, Clock) are clearly grouped and explained instead of failing silently.
  • Fixed Reworked the menu bar tool to work reliably on macOS Sequoia & Tahoe, where the system hosts status items differently.
v1.2.0
May 30, 2026

Buy, manage, and recover your license — all self-serve.

  • New Email-verified checkout: buy with a one-time 6-digit code, no password or account.
  • New Find My License: recover your key or cancel your subscription from the website any time.
  • Improved Cleaner Pro paywall and brand-consistent blue UI across the app.
  • Improved Branded, high-resolution installer (DMG).
  • Fixed License status now reads “Renews monthly” / “Lifetime” instead of a confusing day count.
v1.1.0
May 2026

Faster, calmer, lighter on your battery.

  • Improved Idle CPU usage cut dramatically (25–45% → under 1%) via smarter polling and lighter animations.
  • Improved AI usage background refresh now only runs when the menu bar actually needs it.
  • New Pin items, deep-link plugin settings, and AI usage UX polish.
v1.0.0

FavTray launches — 9 developer tools in one menu bar icon.

  • New Eye Rest Timer, AI Usage Tracker, Port Kill, Window Manager, System Info, Menu Bar Manager, Keep Alive, Cloud Costs, and GitHub Notifications.
  • New 100% local, no account required, works fully offline.
