Download FavTray and drag it to your Applications folder, then double-click it. FavTray is signed with an Apple Developer ID, so macOS just asks once to confirm you want to open an app downloaded from the Internet — click Open. Do I need to create an account to use FavTray?
No. Download, install, and use — no sign-up, no email, no account. If you later purchase Pro, you activate with a license key. No account is ever required.
What happens after the 7-day Pro trial ends?
Every tool keeps working on Free. The cockpit, AI Usage, Eye Rest, System Info and Menu Bar Manager have no limit; the rest get a daily limit that resets at local midnight or a cap on adding more. Nothing you set up during the trial is removed. Space and a few Pro extras lock until you buy Pro, $4.99 once.
Does FavTray work on Apple Silicon Macs?
Yes. FavTray is a universal app (Apple Silicon and Intel), tested on Apple Silicon with macOS 26. It requires macOS Sonoma 14.0 or later.
How much memory does FavTray use?
On 30 September 2026 a FavTray 2.0.7 debug build on an M5 Max running macOS 26.6.2 idled at 0.25–0.5% CPU and about 300 MB in Activity Monitor's Memory column, with a peak of 1.8 GB over 10 hours of use. We haven't measured a release build yet. Tools you turn off don't run.
Can I use FavTray offline?
Mostly. Eye Rest, Snap, Ports, System, Keep Alive, Notes, Projects, Reminders, Meetings (your Mac's calendar), Screenshot, Menu Bar, Space, Hydrate, Posture and AI costs from local logs all work without internet. These need a connection: AI plan limits and provider status, GitHub, Cloud Costs, weather, Flow AI and AI Writer (unless you use a local model), Spotify artwork, licence activation, update checks and Max's one-time download. A Lifetime licence keeps working offline once activated.
Why does macOS keep asking whether FavTray can record the screen?
On macOS 15 Sequoia and later, macOS itself asks from time to time (about once a month on current versions) whether apps that capture the screen may keep doing so. FavTray uses Screen Recording only for Screenshot, for the real icons in Menu Bar Manager, and for Smart Pause to spot full-screen apps. Click Allow to keep them working. If you don't, Menu Bar Manager shows app icons instead, and you can allow FavTray again in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording.
Why didn't my Free daily limit reset after I travelled?
Daily limits reset at midnight in your Mac's time zone, and each one belongs to the date you used it. Fly west and your Mac's date can go back, so a limit you used up stays used until that date is over where you are now, which can be up to about half a day longer than usual. It's deliberate: moving the clock or the time zone back can't reopen a used-up limit. Travelling east, the new date simply starts sooner.
