Getting Started

Set Up FavTray in 3 Minutes

Download, install, and configure 9 developer tools in a single Mac menu bar icon. No account, no sign-up, no credit card.

1

Download & Install

Download FavTray and drag it to your Applications folder. FavTray is not distributed through the App Store, so on first launch macOS Gatekeeper will block it. To open it: right-click (or Control-click) FavTray.app in Applications, choose Open, then click Open again in the dialog. You only do this once. (Alternative: run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/FavTray.app in Terminal.) FavTray then appears as a single icon in your menu bar — no account, no sign-up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to create an account to use FavTray?

No. Download, install, and use — no sign-up, no email, no account. If you later purchase Pro, you activate with a license key. No account is ever required.

What happens after the 30-day Pro trial ends?

Free tools (Eye Rest Timer, Port Kill) keep working exactly as before. Pro-only features become locked. Core versions of AI Usage, Window Manager, and System Info continue working with a soft banner — no pop-ups, no interruptions to your workflow.

Does FavTray work on Apple Silicon Macs?

Yes. FavTray runs natively on Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4) and Intel Macs. It requires macOS Sonoma 14.0 or later.

How much memory does FavTray use?

FavTray typically uses 40-80 MB of RAM with all tools enabled. Disabled tools use zero resources. For comparison, running 5 separate menu bar apps typically uses 150-300 MB combined.

Can I use FavTray offline?

Yes. All features work offline except Cloud Costs, which needs network access to fetch AWS and GCP billing data. Eye rest, AI tracking (from local logs), window management, port scanning, system info, and keep-alive all work without internet.
