Sapphire & Bloom Dynamic Island for Mac (2026)
Short answer: Sapphire is a real Dynamic Island app for Mac: free and open source (AGPL-3.0), for macOS 14.6 or later, with optional monthly tiers from $15.99 to $30.99 that add its Blip AI and live sports and finance. Bloom, the other name people search, is a Windows app on GitHub, not a Mac one, so on a Mac pick Sapphire or another notch app.
TL;DR
- Sapphire: free core on one Mac; open source; a notch island plus Face ID on Mac, a brightness boost, an EQ mixer, Snap Zones and Nearby Share.
- Sapphire’s paid tiers: Basic $15.99, Pro $25.99, Ultra $30.99 a month, for the AI and live-data features.
- Bloom: a Windows desktop app with a notch-style island. There’s no Mac version.
- Alternatives: Boring Notch, Notchy, Atoll, Alcove, DynamicLake Pro and FavTray’s FavShelf.
Sapphire facts were checked on 28 September 2026 at sapphire-app.tech/subscribe, its FAQ and its GitHub repository. Bloom facts are from its repository and website the same day. We make FavTray, whose FavShelf is a notch app; it’s listed with the alternatives.
What is Sapphire Dynamic Island for Mac?
Sapphire is a Mac app by Shariq Charolia that turns the notch into a Dynamic Island and then keeps going. The island handles now playing, a file shelf, weather, calendar alerts and Bluetooth notifications, and the same app adds system tools you’d normally install separately:
- Face ID on Mac and lock screen customisation;
- a 60% XDR brightness boost;
- a Pro Audio Mixer with a 10-band EQ, and Spotify inside the volume HUD;
- Snap Zones for window snapping;
- Android Nearby Share and a Caffeinate toggle;
- an Eye Break reminder using the 20-20-20 rule, and a Gemini integration.
Version 3.0 (15 September 2026) added an app switcher that replaces Command-Tab, dock layouts, clipboard and emoji pickers, clipboard sync and screen mirroring with Android and iPhone, and 8D and surround audio for subscribers. Its release notes call 3.0 an early release and list known issues with Apple Music and Liquid Glass.
It runs on macOS Sonoma 14.6 or later, on Intel and Apple Silicon, and it supports Macs without a notch.
Is Sapphire free?
The core is. Sapphire’s pricing page lists a Free plan at “$0 / forever” for one Mac, which includes Face ID on Mac, the brightness boost, the EQ mixer, Snap Zones, the file shelf, Nearby Share, Caffeinate and lock screen customisation. The paid plans are monthly subscriptions:
| Plan | Price | Adds |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0, one Mac | The core app |
| Basic | $15.99/month (+$11.00 per extra device) | Blip Live voice conversations, Device Agent automation, beta channel |
| Pro | $25.99/month (+$13.99 per extra device) | Blip Agent, Circle to Search, sports live activity in the notch, higher AI quotas |
| Ultra | $30.99/month (+$15.99 per extra device) | Finance widget and live markets, a dedicated sports widget, priority support |
If you only want a notch island, the free plan is enough. The subscriptions are for Sapphire’s AI and live data.
Is Sapphire open source and safe to install?
It’s open source: the code is public on GitHub under AGPL-3.0, with about 240 stars on 28 September 2026, and releases are published there. It asks for Accessibility and Screen Recording, which is normal for a notch app that replaces HUDs and reads on-screen state, but it’s also a lot of access, so install it from the official site or GitHub only. Our notch app permissions guide explains what each permission allows and how to fix one that won’t stick.
Is Bloom Dynamic Island available for Mac?
No. The project most people find for “Bloom Dynamic Island GitHub” is SehajveerSingh2005/bloom, and it’s a Windows app. Its README says Bloom “makes your Windows desktop feel alive”, and its website’s tagline is “Windows, alive.” It draws a notch-style island at the top of the screen with music (album art and a visualizer), a command center for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb, volume and brightness, battery and weather status, and a calendar with a Pomodoro timer, and it replaces the Windows taskbar with a dock.
Downloads come from its GitHub releases, it’s licensed GPL-3.0 and it had 126 stars on 28 September 2026; the latest release, 3.9.1, came out on 26 September 2026. It’s a good-looking project, just not for macOS. A separate Swift repository also called Bloom describes itself as a Dynamic Island for Mac, but it had no stars and no commits since May 2026 when we checked, so we can’t recommend it.
If you came here from a Bloom video and you’re on a Mac, the closest equivalents are Sapphire, Boring Notch and Notchy (all free) or FavTray’s FavShelf.
What are the best Sapphire alternatives for Mac?
- Boring Notch: free and open source (GPL-3.0), macOS 14+. Media with a visualizer, calendar and Reminders, an AirDrop shelf, a camera mirror and HUDs. See our Boring Notch setup guide.
- Notchy: free and donation-supported, macOS 13+. The broadest free island, and it works as a floating pill on Macs without a notch.
- Atoll: free and open source, for MacBooks with a notch. Adds CPU, GPU, memory, network and disk stats.
- Alcove: $14.99 once, macOS 15+. Polished HUDs, live activities and notifications.
- DynamicLake Pro: $13.99 once, macOS 14+. Media, calendar and weather glance, a file drop with AirDrop, and message and call alerts.
- FavTray’s FavShelf: a free glance on every install (media, weather, Claude and Codex usage bars, HUDs), and a one-time Lifetime licence instead of a monthly plan for the tools: a calendar with join buttons, clipboard history, a shelf with AirDrop, a camera check, Claude Code approvals, and FavTray’s eye rest, AI usage and system tools. Side by side: FavTray vs Sapphire.
